The design/assist model of delivery has evolved out of a blend of design/build
and traditional bid projects. With the construction team brought on board early
in the design process to work with a design consultant, the owner benefits from
some of the advantages of the design/build process while maintaining a design
team distinct from the construction team. With design/assist, our team of
engineers, estimators and project managers can provide any level of design input,
from value engineering ideas, to detailed shop drawings, to an integrated design review.
Cochran’s experience with design/assist includes some notable Seattle landmarks, including the
state of the art home to the Seattle Symphony, Benaroya Hall. We have also provided
design/assist services on several major high-tech data center installations around
greater Seattle, enabling us to provide highly detailed installation and shop drawings,
highly accurate as-built drawings and in-depth commissioning plans to bring the
facility operators up to speed.
