Healthcare projects present unique challenges. Hospitals and medical office buildings
require a high level of power reliability, especially for critical systems. Performance
of work in existing facilities is complicated as electrical systems must remain
operable at all times. New equipment must be paralleled with old equipment
until systems can be switched over, requiring detailed planning and coordination.
Sitework must be minimized in most instances, necessitating the utilization of pre-fabrication
techniques and accurate scheduling of material deliveries. Oftentimes there are also
extensive environmental precautions that must be observed.
We have extensive experience with healthcare projects and appreciate the challenges
and opportunities they provide to develop new and better ways of solving problems.
To ensure we remain up-to-date with the industry’s needs and the latest technologies we
have Healthcare Contractor certified project managers and field supervisors, through
the American Society for Healthcare Engineering of the American Hospital Association.
The Healthcare Contractor’s Certificate Program is the only course of study designed specifically
to address the unique needs of the healthcare contractor. Core courses include:
Contractor Competency During Renovation, Communications and Technology Overview,
Project Close-Out, Construction Risk Assessment with Infection Control, and NFPA
Life Safety Code and Interim Life Safety Measures.
Please see our Portfolio section for representative examples of our healthcare experience.
